How long have you worked at Westec Plastics?
I have worked at Westec for close to 18 years now.
What does your typical day look like?
As most of us experience at Westec, every day is something new and different. One day could involve repairing a mold, and the next day we may be assisting the warehouse loading pallet racks.
How has your career grown since starting at Westec?
When I started at Westec, I was only a few years into my apprenticeship as a tool maker, and now I was recently was promoted to Vice President of Tooling.
What is your favorite part about Westec?
Westec treats all employees like family; from machine operators to management, they treat everyone equally. Even when I first started at Westec, coworkers would ask me how my kids and wife are by name. Not many presidents or owners of companies take the time to know your family by name.
Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies/passions?
You’re going to notice a theme here. Mountain biking with my youngest son, shooting traps and handguns with both of my boys. Cooking for my wife and kids. Pretty much anything challenging and new!
Do you have a favorite travel spot?
Anywhere with my family- One favorite spot is Mammoth Mountain (summertime)
In forty years, what will people be nostalgic for?!
People being able to interact with each other despite differing views.
How do you feel about putting pineapple on pizza?
As a great person said many times to me (My Grandpa, Lyle Meeks- 20 years in the Air Force and 15 years at United Airlines) “It fills the hole” I won’t tell you other things he taught me growing up- because that was the cleanest thing, he taught me. 😊
What part of a kid’s movie completely scarred you?
The bathroom scene with Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket- Pretty intense for an 8-year-old
If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?
Pit Bull- All jacked up with roid rage.
Toilet paper, over or under?
Over. I don’t care to know or speak to anyone that can’t figure that one out.
What’s the best type of cheese?
Pretty much any cheese- I get yelled at all the time for sampling while I am cooking
What is something that everyone looks stupid doing?
Picking their nose.
What is the funniest joke you know by heart?
Probably not a good idea to ask me that.
What are the unwritten rules of where you work?
Be quiet – I don’t like noise.
If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Whatever my wife tells me to wear – too many times I have heard “so you’re wearing that?”
