How long have you worked at Westec Plastics?
I’ve worked at Westec for 28 years! For those that know IQMS, I started when we were still using the DOS version!
What does your typical day look like?
Is there a typical day? My day is spent in meetings, planning for future goals, reviewing progress on open projects, and supporting our team to ensure their success. Every day is different, with new challenges and new rewards.
How has your career grown since starting at Westec?
My time at Westec was just supposed to be a stepping stone –but here I am 28 years later! I started in customer service, then moved into accounting, then to HR/AP/AR, back to customer service and later into project management. I was promoted to Director of Customer Relations in 2013 and Vice President in 2015. I took over as President in January 2016.
What is your favorite part about Westec?
The very best part of Westec is the people. I am so proud of the team we have built. I am thankful for each team member we have. Our team cares and takes personal satisfaction in a job well done.
Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies/passions?
My passion would have to be my family. I am so blessed to have them!
Away from work, I love to take pictures; I love capturing a moment in time. I also enjoy wine tasting and trying new foods. Otherwise, a drive in a convertible or floating in a local lake is always a relaxing afternoon!
Do you have a favorite travel spot?
Lake Shasta is the best place on earth. I don’t think there is anything more relaxing than floating in the lake, reading a book, spending time with friends.
In forty years, what will people be nostalgic for?
Family. We are all so busy it’s easy to forget the importance of family.
How do you feel about putting pineapple on pizza?
Unless you’re at a Hawaiian Luau, pineapple does not belong on pizza!
If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?
Cats – they are haughty and always give the impression that they’re better than everyone else.
Toilet paper, over or under?
Why is this even a question? It MUST go over!
What’s the best type of cheese?
Any kind that’s not smelly! Particular favorites are cotija cheese and Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam.
What is something that everyone looks stupid doing?
Putting on their shoes—there’s no graceful way to that! LOL
What is the funniest joke you know by heart?
What do you call a cow with two legs? Lean beef 😊
What are the unwritten rules of where you work?
The unisex bathrooms are not really unisex…
If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
If I was, sadly, limited to only one color, it would be green. There are so many different shades of green!
If you could change the ending of any famous movie, which movie would it be? What would your new ending be?
The Titanic – they should have both gotten on the raft!
What song will you never forget the lyrics to?
Ask my kids, and they’ll tell you that I can’t remember any lyrics or the artists that sing them!
